Partywear for Tween Girls

25th November 2017
zara sequin skirt

Speaking purely about what I know, choosing partywear and dressing daughters for Christmas who are in the 11-12 year old age bracket has to be one of the trickiest ages to dress for. Gone are the cute little tutus that we bought in abundance when they loved anything that would twirl. I am struggling to find partywear outfits that she won’t reject straight off and I am desperate to hold onto those moments of dressing my daughter in age appropriate clothes and accessories. We are already experiencing the all black phase, requests for cropped tops and very few skirt or dress purchases any more.

To be honest, it is rare to find independent labels who go up to age 13. The large retailers do have partywear for girls but it’s not always easy to find something that both mother and daughter agree on.

I have picked a few of my partywear favorites for tween girls this Christmas and also in our household for a winter birthday.

Introducing Outside the Lines SS17 Girls’ Fashion

16th March 2017
Girls Fashion

Outside the Lines SS17 has landed online and what a gorgeous collection it is! With pleasure, I hosted a press breakfast at Bronte to launch Spring / Summer collection of girls fashion and preview the Autumn Winter collection. What a great response it received. There were lots of demands for adult sizes for a mini-me matching look so watch this space for some further developments!

Spring Summer ’17

Outside the Lines‘, spring / summer ’17 collection takes its inspiration from global travel combining elements of bohemian ’70s style with a more contemporary look for free-spirited girls who wish to explore their own style. With a nod to the folk trend, the 30-piece collection for ages 3-13 years offers a soft muted palette punctuated with pops of colour and fun yet refined details that bring the looks alive. The handicraft touches complement the strong denim chambray workwear and refined essentials all with their own twist. Folk-inspired tassels and pom-poms adorn dresses, tops and shorts in Outside the Lines’ second collection, keeping the bohemian spirit of this collection alive. Due to popular demand, Outside the Lines has increased its age range for the first time up to 12-13 years. Highlight pieces in the collection include the indigo Maddie all-in-one playsuit punctuated with white embroidery, the Sadie pom-pom tapestry jacket in accents of neon coral and the crisp white Ava cotton blouse with this season key ruffle detail finishing into a soft pretty bow at the back, perfect for a carefree summertime look.

Outside the Lines embroidered playsuit

This embroidered all in one playsuit is my favourite from the collection. Get it all before it’s gone. It’s not going to hang around for long! And just wait till you see the AW17 collection which is full of glitz and glamour, faux fur, pleated skirts and embellishments. I want it all!

New brand alert: Outside the Lines

13th October 2016
Outside the Lines

You know how we love to discover and showcase new brands at homework? Well I have come across a little gem here and it’s called Outside the Lines.

Outside the Lines – carefully considered girlswear

Outside the Lines is a new girlswear brand offering a carefully considered clothing collection for girls age 3-10. Each piece is designed in soft muted colours and eye-catching prints in a sophisticated and feminine collection catering for different personalities for girls who like to explore their own style. I first spotted them at the Bubble trade show in London earlier in the year and they were definitely one of the highlights of the show.

Outside the Lines has been set up by two friends with years of experience in the industry who shared a similar vision to create a fun and comfortable girlswear collection which doesn’t compromise on quality. There is plenty out there at the designer and high street end of the market but little in between. With its price point and clothing starting at £25, I think Outside the Lines ticks all the boxes. Affordable, good quality and beautiful design.

I would happily put Miss I in the entire collection. They have all the pieces required for a capsule wardrobe which can be dressed up or down from the skinny jeans which have the perfect fit to the Breton top with foil collar, twist hem embellished tutu and fringed cardigan. These are just a few of the hero pieces of the season and I can safely say there is a lot more to show.  I have even had a sneak peek of their Spring Summer ’17 collection which exudes a boho and mini-Marant free-spirited style.

Prices start from £25 and the online boutique launches on Friday 14th October. Personally, I cannot wait for this brand to launch.

Check it out at www.outside-the-lines.co.uk and if you sign-up to the newsletter you will get 15% off your first order.

Summer Suitcase – packing ideas for the holiday season

17th July 2016
summer inflatables

Summer Packing

Schools out and summer holiday time is here. Not long now till we jet off on holiday so I have compiled a selection of wardrobe staples for girls, boys and for mamas of course! I hate packing with a passion and unpacking even more. It’s taken me over two weeks to unpack from the last holiday which is really quite embarrassing now! The kids are off for a short break with granny so two more lots of packing to come and so pleased that the summer and heatwave has finally arrived in the UK.

For Girls

A decidedly pink edit for the girls, not intentional but who would not want to pack that infamous Sunnylife inflatable flamingo for their summer holidays? Bit pricey for a piece of plastic but definitely investing in one this year. Not for the kids but for me! Also snap up the Limited Edition rose gold Saltwater sandals from Smallable as they are going fast. I have yet to buy a pair of these pretty sandals but my blogger pal Kidstylejunkie swears by them and buys two sets for her twins every summer.

For Boys

For Mamas

Boho is still big news this summer, from the floaty kaftans to the numerous embroidered blouses and peasant tops seen everywhere on the high street. I instagrammed this River Island festival jacket recently as simply had to share but seriously I do not want to take it off. It’s such an amazing find, sadly now sold out in the sale but available at ASOS full price. How many pairs of denim shorts is too many? Can’t stop buying different styles of these but got these high-waisted denim shorts for a bargain from H&M. Just get one size up as their sizing is a joke! If one thing is having its moment this summer, it’s the tassel and pom pom. I am coveting the Elina Linadarki pom pom sandals but these ones from Ego will do just the trick.  Last but not least is this Reformation-style bardot dress from New Look. Team with gold jewellery for that essential summer look.

The-Peanuts-Movie-2015

In honour of Charlie Brown’s and Snoopy’s 50th anniversary, Gap Kids and Baby Gap have collaborated with Peanuts in an exclusive capsule collection of clothing, shoes and accessories for the forthcoming Peanuts Movie.

Gap-Peanuts-Clothing-Line-Holiday-2015

Charlie Brown and Snoopy are both iconic cartoon chartacters that we all grew up with. This collection is a perfect way to introduce your children to our childhood heroes. The Gap collection launches in-stores worldwide now and will make perfect festive gifts this Christmas to a legion of old and new fans.

“In collaborating with Peanuts, we wanted to celebrate their heritage by incorporating vintage artwork and an exclusive collection of hand sketched drawings for baby,” said Phu Ngo, vice president of merchandising at Gap. “By going back to the origins of the story, we truly find the special timelessness of the brand and re-introduce it to a new generation.”

The Peanuts Movie is out in the UK on 21st December and the Gap collaboration is out now. Prices from £9.99. www.gap.co.uk

Here are a few of my favourite pieces from the collection.  I predict a sell-out!

Sunny Delight

7th July 2015
girlswear yellow trend

Main Picture Credit: Ilovegorgeous | Boden | Talc

Blame it on the sunny weather we’ve been having but the yellow trend has no signs of abating this spring /summer. Not the easiest shade to wear for adults but for girls, a zesty yellow dress or pair of yellow coloured Boden Mary Jane’s adds a little sunshine into your life and can instantly lift anyone’s mood. With yellow coloured hues ranging from citrus lemon through to chartreuse, there are still plenty of girlswear finds on the high street, online and beyond. I love the look of this cute yellow laser-cut, layered Monsoon bikini, perfect for summer holidays and  days spent by the pool. Team yellow with pale grey or white like the Ilovegorgeous Jet Skirt for a sophisticated look. And if all you want is a touch of yellow, add brightly coloured nails with Nailmatic Kids Nail Polish at Smallable, the toxic free nail varnish for children or the Elfie party hat in mustard. Here’s my pick of the best yellow pieces:
